BMF Midlands - Region 3

Welcome to the web site for the BMF Midlands region. This site is intended for both BMF members and non-members alike.

The BMF consists of 10 regions namely:

Region 1 - Scotland

Region 2 - North East

Region 3 - Midlands

Region 4 - East

Region 5 - London

Region 6 - South

Region 7 - South West

Region 8 - Wales

Region 9 - West

Region 10 - Northern Ireland

Region 3, the Midlands, runs from Shropshire in the west to Lincolnshire in the east, Derbyshire in the north to Warwickshire in the south - see the "Boundaries" page for the detail of which counties and local authorities make up Region 3. BMF Regions are aligned with "Government Office regions" and as such Region 3 matches the East and West Midlands Government Office Regions.

How the region functions can be found here while an outline of the BMF's structure can be found in BMF Structure

Ken Wells is our long standing Regional Chair with Pete Finney as Vice-Chair. There are Reps for most areas (see Contacts) but there is always room for more volunteers. Contact Roger Ellis for further information.

This site will be updated from time to time, especially the section on 'Whats On' and 'In Your Area'; the latter will list the Forums and campaigns or warnings for your area so please bookmark the site and return from time to time.

Your 'Local Contacts' are the Reps - volunteers who give up some of their spare time to pursue local biking issues, whether it be campaigning on local transport issues, being part of local forums or training groups or organising charity runs, usually at Easter and Christmas. We used to be normal people before Ken 'persuaded' us to be Reps and each of us contributes depending on our skills and availability - find out more about what a Rep does here.

If you want to be kept in touch with activities in your area, contact your local Rep so that they can send you the occasional, E-mail listing anything of interest to biker's in your area.

If you haven't the time to be a Rep or there isn't a vacancy in your area, you can go to local motorcycle forum meetings to add your voice (they are almost always public forums) or come on the charity runs; report road faults, contact your councillor or MP on biking issues - it all helps. If you can help, however little, contact your local Rep (or the person organising an event) and talk about the options.

Change comes slowly and every bit of help is welcome. Enjoy your riding.
