Press release LEICESTERSHIRE PET FOOD RUN 2006
On a bright, sunny day, over 50 motorcycle riders assembled at Rockingham Classics & Sports Ltd. at Great Oxendon, Nr Market Harborough to take part in the Annual Pet Food Run to Leicester & Leicestershire Animal Aid Association's Pet Rescue Centre at Huncote. The run was jointly organised by The British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) and The Royal Enfield Owners Club, the aim of the run was to provide food and other materials to help the centre with its day to day welfare of the animals in its care. With Dave Ringrose (joint organiser), at its head and Roger Ellis (joint organiser) at the rear the bikes set off, with members of the Association of Christian Motorcyclists providing the marshals, to ride the 25 miles through scenic parts of Leicestershire to Huncote. On arrival the riders were met by members of the staff who gratefully accepted the donations of goods and cash (£240). Drinks and 'Huncote Rock Cakes' were gladly consumed by all participants, then trips around the centre were undertaken before the riders left for home some having travelled from as far as Cambridge in the south and Doncaster in the north. The joint organisers of this event have already agreed the date for next year, this being 9th September 2007. (Watch this space for details) Roger Ellis |
