Leicester & Leicestershire Motorcycle Forum

Since its founding in 2000 and originally consisting of representatives of both Leicester City Council's Highways Department along with their colleagues from Leicestershire County Council. Together with Road Safety Officers, the police, dealers and the two main motorcycle pressure groups the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) and the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG).

Since those days the Forum has discussed at length the input into Local Transport Plans, the condition of the roads throughout Leicester City and Leicestershire. And has progressed the Motorcycle Strategy within Leicestershire.

Successes include the provision of secure parking with 'kit lockers' in the city centre, also producing an up to date 'bike parking map' covering the areas that PTWs may park.

Secure parking has been installed in many of the county towns and this is an 'ongoing process'

The Forum meets about 4 times a year with the location for meetings alternating between Leicester City Town Hall and the BMF Headquarters in Enderby.

Other Leicestershire Activities

Closely working with local charities to provide help and support for local events that benefit the local community. Two of which are:-

  • The Annual Pet Food Run, usually in September, which benefits the Leicester and Leicestershire Animal Aid Centre at Huncote (see What's on for next run)
  • The annual Leicestershire Toy Run in December which benefits the Children's ward at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (see What's On for next run)

Visiting local dealers to help promote the BMF as the leading rider's rights organization in the country.

Ideas for other events always welcomed, contact Roger Ellis
