Structure in the RegionsEach region is structured in the same manner - there are no paid staff in the regions - everyone is a volunteer but they do get expenses where necessary (e.g. mileage for attending meetings). The following is summary of how the region functions - for a fuller understanding see the Constitution. Regional Chairman: the Region is run by the Regional Chairman who is responsible for all BMF related activity that happens in the Region. The Chairman is elected by the regional membership - the individual members and appointed representatives of affiliated clubs in the region. This takes place every three years at the Annual Regional Meeting (ARM); Region 3's ARM takes place in June (see What's On for details). Reps: the Regional Chairman appoints a number of local BMF representatives (Reps) in various areas in the region. Depending on the nature of the region, there might be one per county or more - in some areas where there are large towns or cities there may be more. In the Midlands the tendency is to have one per county although some counties have two and in one county there is a vacancy (see People); an indication of what a Rep does can be found in Reps Job - its not that difficult - maybe you could do it. One of the Reps will be appointed by the Chairman as Deputy-Chairman. Councillor: each region elects a number of Councillors at the ARM for a one year term; the number depends on the number of individual members in the region - one Councillor per 750 individual members or part thereof; note that although elected at the ARM in June, Councillors have to be ratified by the AGM in October before becoming a Councillor. The Councillor's job is to represent the membership in the BMF Council, which meets four times per year. The Council's is the representative body formed of members of the Federation whose primary function is to review and monitor BMF policy and progress. Volunteers: anyone who helps at an "event" whether it be the full BMF show or on a stand at a local show - more help is always needed. Note 1: In these circumstances, the representative of an affiliated club counts as an individual member. |
